Celebrate!

Abbie had a glorious 1st birthday.  Owen and I made Abbie's birthday cake. After that we went shopping.  Who doesn't love birthday shopping?  Then we had an awesome birthday nap.  When Owen returned home from school he helped me decorate Abbie's birthday cake.  Then we went out for Abbie's birthday dinner.  Owen helped Abbie pick the restaurant (Chick-fil-a), he thought she would like it. :)  After dinner we came home for cake.  Abbie was much better at eating her cake than Owen had been on his first birthday.  She actually ate hers.  She really enjoyed being sung to and the candle really was the "candle on the cake" for her.

Owen was really excited to help her open presents, but he was very sad that he didn't get any.  In fact when I took him to the store to pick out Abbie's present he wanted to pick one out for himself.  When I told him that it wasn't his birthday he got very upset.  He gave an Oscar winning performance with tears, a frown and all.  I really had to give him credit.  Too bad his Mom learned from the best and she wasn't easily manipulated.  It's a good thing Dad wasn't with us or things might have been different.  His sad eyes don't work on me.  I love the kid, but come on.  He's got to learn sometime that we don't always get what we want.  Anyhow Owen picked out an adorable little purple train for Abbie.  The trains name is "Rosie".  Owen was very quick to point out that Abbie will have to share her train with Owen,  because sharing is nice.  Grandma Valerie gave Abbie a cute little doll that plays music.  Abbie loves it.  She can say "baby" and if you even attempt to touch her baby she gets very upset.  She knows it is her baby and she won't let anyone forget it.  Many thanks to my family for giving Abbie something to wear this fall.  Without their gifts she was going to be in trouble.  I had no 12 months clothes for the poor child.  It was a very nice day and I think Abbie really enjoyed it.  Happy Birthday Abbie Doodle!
